I stumbled upon some cool stuff.
I had been out that far east once previous and had remembered what looked to be a little old car shop on the one road out there, so I decided to check it out this time. Boy, was I in for a surprise.
Sitting in the grass under a tree, for at least ten years as I was told, was this mint Alfa Romeo Montreal. Not only is it my favorite Alfa, but it was my first time seeing one in person. I will admit I had a bit of a fan girl moment. The best part is that its for sale. The bad part is that the owner is asking 50k as she sits.
This was also my first time seeing a 510 in person. In my favorite color too!
I know you all know what that Mini is, but if you look closely at the plate of the car on the left, you’ll see its from France. It just so happens its the most French car ever made, the 2CV. Some type of van version I guess.
I ran out of film at this point, but along with those pictured above, there were two Karman Ghias, a P1800, and under the cover in the photo above was an Austin Healey 3000 Mk.II. This was the stuff tucked away in the back. Out front there were a bunch of mid nineties Saabs, BMWs, and Mercs. As well as a white ‘62 Cadillac Eldorado convertible, for sale. Some of you might remember as well that I saw an Alpina Z8 on the way there. I posted about that on Facebook.
This was taken on what remained of the front straight of the old Bridgehampton Raceway, that has now been turned into a golf course. I’m on the right, and my buddy is on the left.
This was about as close as I got to the lighthouse. I had never been there before only to show up, take one picture, and drive right back home. Why? Because the whole trip was never about the light house, it was about the cars. The roads just before the light house were the stuff out of dreams, and myself nor my friend could wait to get right back out there for some spirited driving.
I love cars.
Also, for all of you camera guys out there, these were taken with my Olympus OM-2S, using a 50mm 1.8 Zuiko, and Ektar 100.

Save the Montreal....

I want the Alfa but I’m not unrealistic. I’ll gladly take any of the others.

If only I had the fifty grand they were asking for it.

There was a gorgeous blue Montreal in the Targa California this year. But I think $50k sounds pretty high for one that doesn’t look like it is too well loved or has driven in a long time. My understanding is the little V8 is difficult to work on and quite temperamental.
Montreal pictured with Alfa double bubble which is awesome.

That poor Montreal.....somebody has to save her :(
I’ll take that 2CV Fourgon if nobody wants it! :D

Ahhh, so that’s what kind of 2cv that is. I’d never seen one before.

That’s a bold ask for a car that’s been dormant for 10 years

Yuppers...amusingly, ‘fourgon’ is French for ‘van’, so very creative naming :P
It might’ve also been a Dyane-based van as well, but I can’t see the front to know. (The Dyane was a later ‘luxury’ 2CV with some different bodywork, essentially).

I had the same thought.

Oh, also, in reference to your username, in case you didn’t know, 2CVs are powered by an air-cooled Flat2 :P
So, that just means you should buy one! ;)

Wow, I didn’t know that either. That’s pretty cool! Not sure there are any around me though.

2CV AZ van! As RallyDakarStrike pointed out below, it could be an Acadiane as well. Was that one for sale?

Excellent finds, but it makes me sad to see the Montreal like that in particular. 50k is crackpipe in that state.

Haha, probably not...they are not exactly common in North America. :)

Not sure, I only got a chance to talk about the alfa to one of the workers. I would imagine it is though. I’m almost certain most of the cars parked out there were for sale.

I was mostly just curious to find out what they were asking for it. What else did they have there? There seems to be an old Jeep in the background of one photo.

Gotta try some Ektar. Love the colors and highlights.

I’m not really a Kodak guy, but I do like the ektar. I really want to try out some Velvia but I don’t think anyone around me sells it in stores.

Somewhat surprisingly, it’s a fairly recent import.

Yeah, it’s getting harder to find variety in film stock these days..
